Corporate Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility is a key part of our ethos. Our commitment to our clients’, suppliers, our employees and the communities in which we work are of paramount importance to us. Whilst delivering our services we seek to support the needs of our stakeholders in an ethical and empathetic manner.
Through encouraging innovative thinking and pioneering new concepts, we have embraced our economic, social and environmental responsibilities on a local, regional and international scale. We seek to deliver sustainable benefits through the work that we do, and the way in which we operate.
Examples of initiatives undertaken include:
- Committed annual charity donations and regular fundraising events for international, national and local charities.
- Founding member of Reading Initiative for Tsunami Action (RITA) an association committed to the longer term re-building of the areas affected by the tsunami. RITA is committed to long-term targeted support in Sri Lanka, where we are acting as Technical Consultant and treasurer with representation on the steering group.
- We have a Give As You Earn (GAYE) system operating through the Charities Aid Foundation, for staff to give to charity in a tax efficient manner.
- Implementation of a transport strategy for our staff and visitors which minimises the impact of our business related travel on congestion and the environment. This includes discount rail cards, interest free season tickets, bicycle/scooter/motorbike loans, pool bikes and incentives to use cleaner fuels, to car share, and to use non car modes. We also seek to locate our offices close to public interchanges.
- Implementation of an Environmental Management System certified to ISO14001, which includes commitments to energy efficiency, various recycling schemes, and the review of the potential to build in environmental benefits on the projects that we work on.
- Many Projects which deliver social and environmental benefits.
We feel that the way in which we value all our stakeholders and the way in which we approach our business helps to define the nature and success of our Practice and we were delighted to have appeared in the Sunday Times' 100 'Best Companies' to Work for in the UK in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
