About the project
After many years of dereliction the former Betteshanger Colliery in Kent has been developed by South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) into an ambitious mixed-use scheme. This has transformed the area into a new, high quality business park, cycling centre and community park with widespread landscape, environmental and ecological improvements. |

|
Project highlights
- Transformation of over 120 hectares (300 acres) of derelict industrial land to create an exciting new business and community park
- Complex environmental, ecological and archaeological challenges
- Significant benefits to the local community, including new employment opportunities and recreational facilities

|
"This project is a flagship restoration scheme for SEEDA that will change perceptions of Betteshanger and allow it to once again contribute to the local economy. Our all round, multi-disciplinary expertise and involvement during the final planning phase added considerable value to the regeneration scheme which will serve as a model of mixed-use sustainable development."
